The Oire Nomi — Japan's all-purpose chisel.

The SUIZAN chisel is known in Japan as Oire Nomi: the workhorse of traditional woodworking. Pare by hand or drive with a mallet — it handles both. A steel hoop at the handle end absorbs mallet strikes. A slightly thinner blade keeps hand-paring smooth and controlled. Each piece is forged and finished by hand, carrying 150 years of craft from Japan's blade-making heartland.

Each set comes in a traditional paulownia wood box — the same material Japanese artisans have trusted for centuries to protect fine tools and lacquerware. Lightweight, naturally moisture-resistant, and built to last. A presentation worthy of what's inside.

A Kyoto tradition, around every delivery.

Each set is wrapped in a Kin-cha Furoshiki — a golden-brown cloth made by Kyoto craftsmen. The warm tone reflects the beauty of fine woodwork, and the cloth itself is built to last: durable, hand-washable, and worthy of the tools it holds.
